Vient peut-être maintenant l'âge d'une autre expérience: celle de désapprendre.

RePLITO offers me a unique possibility to extend my knowledge about ethical approaches and notions of coexistence which are (re-)emerging as a response to growing inequality and sociopolitical polarization. My contribution to the project will focus on the significance of media practice and technologically mediated communication in this context. The media and changing public spheres are currently seen as directly responsible for the perceived 'crisis of cohesion' and increased social fragmentation. In particular, the internet and social media are identified as a new threat to good coexistence, due to targeted disinformation campaigns and the algorithmic creation of filter bubbles. At the same time, media are also considered as central and constitutive for good coexistence in societies that are becoming more heterogeneous. What 'good' means in different times and contexts - and from whose perspective - is of course constantly reviewed and negotiated. The event series „Media Culture and Repertoires of Coexistence“ will therefore provide a platform for discussions on media-related strategies, practices and concerns of public actors who, in the face of multiple global challenges, advocate new ideas of an equitable coexistence in plurality.
